During World War II, the land and buildings of the Hawaii Daijingu Temple were seized by the U.S. government and later sold at auction. Despite this loss, the temple continued its religious identity and activities throughout the war. On April 20, 1947 (Showa 22), it relocated to a temporary location at 2307 Young Street. Finally, on November 1, 1958, the Hawaii Daijingu Temple established its permanent home at 61 Puiwa Road, where it remains today.
The temple enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, the Sun Goddess, along with many other revered kami and historical figures who have contributed to Hawaii and the world, including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, King Kamehameha, and King Kalākaua. The temple’s Memorial Hall honors the spirits of early Hawaiian pioneers and those who lost their lives in the World Wars. Prayer services are held every morning and evening for peace, happiness, and global harmony.
The temple also conducts ceremonies showing gratitude and respect to those who have sacrificed for the betterment of humanity. Although Amaterasu Omikami is sometimes misunderstood as a deity belonging only to the Japanese people, classical teachings affirm that she is a universal divine presence for all creation. All living and non-living beings originate from Amaterasu Omikami, making us spiritual children under her care.
Before World War II, some leaders in Japan attempted to claim Amaterasu Omikami as a national deity. However, such an interpretation ignored her true nature as a universal presence akin to the sun—shared by all. In truth, Amaterasu Omikami is the Supreme Being of the universe, and her spirit resides in all things. When this understanding is embraced, individuals find inner peace, and the world moves toward harmony. This philosophy is known as the Way of the Kami.
The mission of the Daijingu Kyodan is to help people return to the Way of the Kami—a life of peace, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment under the guidance of Amaterasu Omikami. The organization is wholeheartedly devoted to sharing these teachings.

第二次世界大戦中、ハワイ大神宮の土地と建物はアメリカ合衆国政府によって接収され、その後、競売にかけられました。しかしながら、戦時中においても、当神宮は宗教団体としての精神と存在を守り続けました。
1947年（昭和22年）4月20日には一時的にヤングストリート2307番地へ移転し、最終的に1958年11月1日、現在の所在地であるプイワロード61番地に恒久的に鎮座いたしました。
当神宮には、天照大御神をはじめ、共にお仕えする神々、そしてハワイや世界に大きな貢献をされた歴史的人物――ジョージ・ワシントン、エイブラハム・リンカーン、カメハメハ大王、カラカウア王などが奉斎されています。
また、境内の「顕彰殿」では、ハワイ開拓の先人や、世界大戦で亡くなられた方々の御霊をお祀りしております。
毎朝・毎夕には、人類の平和と幸福、そして世界の調和を祈るお祭りが行われています。
当神宮では、人類のために尽くし命を捧げられた方々への感謝と敬意を表す祭儀も執り行っています。
天照大御神は日本だけの神であると誤解されることもありますが、古典には**「すべての万物を生み出す、普遍的な神である」**ことが明確に示されています。
人類を含むすべての生きとし生けるもの、さらには無生物に至るまで、天照大御神の御神徳によって存在しており、私たちは皆、御神の御子であります。
かつて第二次世界大戦前、日本の一部指導者たちは天照大御神を国家のみの神とみなしましたが、これは本来の御心を誤った理解でありました。太陽の如く万人に恵みを与える御存在を、特定の国のみに属するものとしたことが誤りの一因とも言われています。
真実は、天照大御神は宇宙の最高神であられ、その御心はすべての存在に宿っているということです。
この真理を深く理解したとき、人々の心には安らぎが訪れ、世界は調和へと向かい、万物は共に美しい調和を成して参ります。これを**「神の道（かみのみち）」**と申します。
大神宮教団の使命は、天照大御神の御導きのもと、平和で幸せな、精神的充実に満ちた人生――すなわち「神の道」へと人々をお導きすることにあります。
当教団は、この教えを広め、人々の心に安寧と希望を届けることに全力を尽くしております。
